Privacy Policy
Privacy-first browser protection.
Poirot is being developed as a browser trust assistant for suspicious websites, checkout pages, subscriptions, and downloads. This policy explains the privacy approach for the public website and early browser extension prototype.
What the website collects
The public website does not include an account system, payment form, or lead-capture form. The hosting provider may process standard server logs, such as IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, and timestamp, to operate and secure the website.
What the extension prototype checks locally
When you open Poirot on a regular web page, the current extension prototype analyzes risk signals in your browser, including the current page URL, visible page text patterns, presence of sensitive form types, checkout language, trial or subscription language, and download file types. The prototype stores recent scan results on your device using Chrome local storage.
What Poirot does not collect in the prototype
- Passwords.
- Credit card numbers.
- Typed form values.
- Full browsing history.
- Page screenshots.
- Email, SMS, contacts, or private messages.
Future premium features
Future premium versions may use server-side domain reputation checks, account status, billing status, family alerts, and optional user reports. Those features will be documented before launch, and the extension will request only the permissions needed for visible user-facing protection.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use disclosure
Poirot uses browser permissions and locally processed page signals only to provide or improve its single purpose: helping users evaluate risk before trusting websites, checkout pages, subscriptions, and downloads. Poirot does not sell user data, does not use user data for personalized advertising, and does not transfer user data to data brokers or ad platforms.
Data deletion
The extension stores recent scan results on your device. You can clear local extension data from Chrome extension settings. For privacy questions, email hello@poirot.click.
